A fully functioning automatic camera for one euro! Get this, it even had film inside. Having no idea what state it was in, whether it was used or not. But definitely expired. This one euro wonder otherwise known as the Minolta Riva Zoom 70 from 1995. What also did amazed me was the battery was still good and full of juice. Seriously, it was loaded up and sitting there waiting to be used. So what’s the catch?
A broken camera with a wind of its own! I was about to lose all hope when I saw the developed negatives. The film was well and truly expired and probably sitting around for a long time in the heat of many summers.
I thought it wouldn’t be much maybe in the right situation, the right time and the right messed up revolting mechanism …
So what possible results could be achieved from this 90’s handbag sized black plastic “made in Japan” all jumping and auto functioning camera? I thought it wouldn’t be much maybe in the right situation, the right time and the right messed up revolting mechanism… but it actually produced something of merit.
Of course it has to be pointed in the right direction by the user. Then development at least has to have the right temperature for the color chemicals. So a lot of ‘rights’ when things go ‘wrong’ made it right! This has certainly being a cheap thrill!
The colors and double exposure are as is from the camera and the self development.
How do I rate this camera
Well, it’s nothing special, this camera. It’s really up to the user and maybe some special random magic occurs to produce something of meaning. Maybe I was lucky or got better at being lucky!
Fun Factor: 5 out 10
Build Quality: Nothing special
Ease of Use: Easy as pie.
